Brea DUI Checkpoint
The Brea Police Department issued a press release that indicated that there would be a DUI checkpoint tonight, August 5, 2016, from 7:00 p.m., to 3:00 a.m., in an undisclosed location in Brea. They did announce that the Brea DUI checkpoint was due to State and Federal Grant money directed towards DUI checkpoints. http://www.ci.brea.ca.us/DocumentCenter/View/3360
Buena Park DUI Checkpoint
The Buena Park Police Department issued a press release that indicated that there would be a DUI checkpoint on August 19th, 2016, from 7:00 p.m., to 3:00 a.m., at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Stanton in Buena Park. http://www.bppd.com/pressrelease/BPPD%20DUI%20Checkpoint%208-19-16.pdf
As noted before, DUI checkpoints are required to be announced ahead of time, and are not nearly as effective as police officer saturation patrols in getting drunk drivers off the road. It is not uncommon for DUI checkpoints to result in no arrests. However, they have substantial funding (unlike patrols) and can be a money maker for police departments, and for individual officers via funded officer overtime.
